(Player Spotlight) - Sherman Pruitt #84 - Outside Linebacker, Flanker, Tight End, and Specialty Teams. *Ironman Player

Sherman was a member of our linebacker crew known as the "Orient Express," which Glenn Barretto led. It was Coach Tom Newsom's famed defensive unit. Sherman played outside linebacker, and was a crushing hitter. He could sting you and leave you feeling it. Hard hitter, hard-nosed football player. Sherman was a vital member of the 1984 team that held the twelve opponent offensive teams we faced to just 132 points combined. Sherman could stuff the run or shut down the outside passing game. Sherman was also our flanker, and backup tight end, and had great hands or could deliver a text book block. In 1984, Sherman was a big play maker and always in the mix. When we needed him to perform Sherman always stepped up and played with heart. I respected his guts and fortitude. Thanks for the memories, Sherman. You took names.
